Bridesmaids and pageboys wanted as couple take to airwaves for 40th wedding vows renewal

Posted onPosted on 1st Oct

For most couples, after 40 years of marriage they would celebrate their ruby anniversary with something containing the precious gem, but not Tony and Yvette Price-Mear.

Tony and Yvette, who will celebrate their Ruby anniversary on 24th October, have renewed their vows every 10 years since they first married in 1981. This year, because of lockdown, they’ve decided to do something a bit different.

The 59-year-old couple, of Burnt Oaks Close, Mansfield Woodhouse, will renew their vows live on Mansfield 103.2 during Katie Trinder’s Sunday Brunch show. Katie, who has worked at Mansfield 103.2 since it launched in 1999, qualified as a celebrant with the Academy of Professional Celebrants last year.

Not only that, but they’ve decided to use the event to raise funds for the Carer’s Trust, 4th Mansfield Woodhouse Scouts and Radio Mansfield 103.2’s King’s Mill Hospital’s Toy Appeal.

They are asking anyone who would like to be a bridesmaid or page boy to get involved virtually and help the three causes at the same time by following the instructions below.

How to become involved

1, Take a photograph of your child or yourself (or even your pet) dressed prettily

2, Make a suggested donation of £1 via the Go Fund Me Page for the above charities – https://gofund.me/6924433d

3, Email the photograph to [email protected] – this is very important so we know how many bridesmaids and pageboys are taking part.

4, On Sunday 24th October at 12pm TWEET the photograph to @mansfield103 with the hashtag #Tonyandyvettes40th

Tony and Yvette were first married on 24th October, 1981 (see photograph)  at St Edmund’s Church, Mansfield Woodhouse, and every 10 years since then they have renewed their vows at the church.

Yvette said: “On the day we got married, Tony and I were on our way to the reception and we looked at each other and decided that as it was such a wonderful experience, we would renew our vows every 10 years and that’s what we’ve done.

“We wanted our 40th anniversary to be bigger and better than ever and we had planned to do it in church with 20 bridesmaids, two pageboys and a couple of hundred guests, but sadly that’s not going to be possible.

“I approached Katie and Mansfield 103.2 because I have a long-standing relationship with them. I know that Mansfield 103.2 are old romantics and love to do something a bit different, we also thought we could use the opportunity to raise money for the charities and get even more people involved. They have been absolutely amazing and said yes straightaway.”

Managing editor for Mansfield 103.2, Ian Watkins, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be involved with Yvette and Tony’s celebrations.

“We are one of very few independent radio stations left in the UK and it means that we have the freedom to be able to be involved in special moments in our listeners’ lives, plus I think in 22 years, we’ve never had an on air wedding and the fact it’s going to help raise funds for our King’s Mill Toy Appeal is just the cherry on top of the cake! It’s going to be a really amazing moment to be a part of.”

The vow renewal will take place during Katie’s Sunday Brunch Show on Mansfield 103.2 on Sunday, 24th October, between 9am and 1pm and will come live from the Forest Town Arena.
