BIG Ashfield Spring Clean the best yet

Posted onPosted on 11th Mar

Ashfield District Council has thanked residents for getting involved in the third successive BIG Ashfield Spring Clean — and promised a similar summer initiative.

Tonnes of bagged side waste were collected alongside regular bin collections. One resident thanked the council for 57 bags of extra waste collected.

A total of 4,348 households took advantage of the free bulky waste collections, with the most popular items being mattresses, sofas, fridge freezers, beds and chairs.

Volunteers also carried out litter picks.

Coun Jason Zadrozny, leader of the council, said: “This has been by far our most successful Spring Clean. Following its success we will be launching the first ever Skip into Summer in July. This will see bin wagons out across the district acting as static skips and allowing residents to get rid of even more waste.”
