Ben Bradley MP celebrates work of local volunteers

Posted onPosted on 2nd Jun

Mansfield and Warsop MP Ben Bradley MP is joining local charities in thanking local volunteers for their hard work supporting people and communities as part of Volunteers’ Week 2021.

Volunteers’ Week is an annual celebration – now in its 37th year – of the contribution and dedication of millions of volunteers who give up their time in the service of others.

The annual campaign, established in 1984, is all about recognising the incredible contribution millions of volunteers make to our communities every day and showcasing the range of opportunities available for people to get involved. This year’s theme is ‘A time to say thanks’ – recognising that during this exceptional year, people from all walks of life around the UK have taken the time to volunteer and have made a huge difference to their communities every day, just as they do every year.

Ben said: “Over the past year we have all seen the positive impact volunteers can have in people’s lives. I saw this first-hand when I went to get my vaccine on Monday. The volunteers made the entire process run smoothly and I cannot thank them enough for everything they are doing to help our community. There are so many local organisations, such as John Eastwood Hospice, that rely on their amazing volunteers and it is only right we take a week to celebrate their contributions.

“Here in Mansfield, we have the Mansfield Community and Voluntary Service, who run their annual Volunteer Awards ceremony. This celebrates the work of volunteers across our area and really shows the best of our area. Back in March last year I signed up as a Community Reserve Volunteer for the British Red Cross to help my community in a crisis. I would encourage everyone to sign up as a volunteer and get involved in helping out locally.’
