Chris Beardsley’s first goal since his return to Mansfield Town in the summer clinched a 1-0 win at Stevenage on Saturday.

It was the Stags’ second victory in five days and kept them on the fringe of the play-offs.

Beardsley’s 60th minute header was enough to secure an eighth away win, but the downside was red card for striker Matt Green after he picked up a second booking in the final minute and will miss next Saturday’s home match against Morecambe.

Stags boss Adam Murray, who revealed before kick-off that he expects full back Nicky Hunt to join another club in the next few days, was lifted by the return of defender Mal Benning after a long injury lay-off.
