Posted onPosted on 17th Dec

A Sutton care home worker won a regional accolade at the Great British Care Awards.

Luke Turton, health care assistant at Exemplar Health Care’s Pathways, received the Care Home Worker Award at the East Midlands regional finals.

Luke was nominated by his colleagues for his outstanding work, being praised for his positive attitude and ongoing dedication to his role.

He was thanked by his colleagues in his nomination, which read: “Luke is an inspiring and dedicated health care assistant. Before starting at Pathways,he’d never worked in care, but since joining the team he has excelled.

“He puts our residents at the heart of everything that he does and is an asset to Pathways. Luke is a keyworker for one of our residents and has helped him to learn sign language, so that he can communicate his basic daily needs.”

At Pathways, Luke and the team support people living with learning disabilities and complex needs, including autism, and aim to maximise their independence, build their everyday lifeskills, and live a life as fulfilled as possible.

“I am delighted to have won,” said Luke. “I have grown to love my job. The people I work with and our residents are amazing.
