MP Lee Anderson has welcomed news that Ashfield will benefit from a share of £900mn in additional funding for local councils, announced by the Government.

It means that since the start of the pandemic, the constituency has received just short of £3m in extra direct support from the Government.

Ashfield also stands to benefit from a new fund to support council leisure centres that are most in need.

Lee said: “I have always promised to bang the drum for Ashfield and Eastwood. I meet with minister’s every week, trying to get more funding and services for the area. I was delighted to hear we had secured this money. The extra £784,201 announced is hugely welcome and will ease financial pressures and ensure our councils are able to continue providing vital local services this winter.

“I am also pleased to hear that the Government has taken on board my views on Leisure facilities. Leisure plays a huge part in promoting good physical and mental health. I will continue to push for Ashfield to be included in this.”
