Ashfield Health Village volunteers rewarded

Volunteers who give up their time to make life more comfortable for patients have been awarded for their efforts.

The sterling work completed by five volunteers at Ashfield Health Village was recognised at Sherwood Forest Hospitals’ Chairman’s Awards ceremony.

The awards, presented by Trust Chairman Sean Lyons, recognise the unique contributions each volunteer makes. Sean Lyons said: “Our team of volunteers deserve this recognition and the heartfelt thanks from the entire Trust.

“Volunteers play an integral role in the smooth running of our hospitals and each and every one, whether they have served five or 30 years, are highly regarded and acknowledged by staff and patients alike.”

Among the volunteers awarded were those that assist in tea bar, stores, and outpatient clinics. Recognition for an outstanding 20 years of service went to Sue Deakin, who takes pride in issuing patients with courtesy packs and assisting in all fundraising activities.

Volunteering can improve confidence and social life, put work and people skills to good use, improve a CV and can improve health. If you want to make a difference and would consider volunteering please contact Joy Wilson from the Community Involvement Department at King’s Mill Hospital on (01623) 676011 or e-mail [email protected]
