Another Good rating celebrated at Meden School

Posted onPosted on 18th Sep

The Meden School, which is part of Nova Education Trust, has again been rated Good by Ofsted inspectors.

Headteacher Jim Smith said: “Meden is a great place to study, work, and develop for students and staff alike — Ofsted could clearly see this during their inspection. As a school community we are proud that our hard work and dedication has been recognised by inspectors.

“The inspectors were impressed with the attitudes and conduct of all our students during the inspection and remarked on how polite, well-mannered, and well-behaved they were. They truly embodied the school’s values of being kind, polite and responsible.

“Ofsted recognised that our curriculum is ambitious and well-planned, and identified the wider opportunities it creates for our students to make a difference in the community they live in.

“Meden is a highly-successful school and we are determined to ensure that our students continue to thrive and maximise their potential.”

Ofsted said the curriculum was carefully designed so that pupils achieve well, including pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).

Inspectors said one teacher summed up the views of many when they said it’s a lovely place to work. A place where you are valued by everyone.

Inspectors noted that leaders have created a clear vision for behaviour. They use this information to teach pupils the ‘Meden way, which is to always do the right thing, even when no-one is watching.

Pupils’ behaviour was said to be good and bullying is not tolerated. The atmosphere in lessons and around the school was calm and purposeful with pupils respecting themselves and others.

Ryan Hawley, executive headteacher, added: “It is excellent that Meden School has been judged to be an Ofsted rated Good school, which provides an environment for learners to feel safe, develop, grow, and achieve.

“I am extremely proud of the school community as it continues to evolve as part of the Nova Education Trust. We now look to the future as we further develop our educational offer towards providing a transformational education across all aspects of school life.”

Ash Rahman, trust chief executive, said: “Meden School provides an environment for learners where they are inspired, developed and motivated to achieve. I am delighted that it has received the continued recognition that it deserves.

“We now look to the future as we further develop our vision to create truly transformational education for the young people and the communities we serve.”
