Animal crackers for foodbank

Kirkby Rotary Club is presenting its Charity Ferret Race Night at St Wilfrid’s Church Hall, Kirkby, on Saturday, 19th March at 7 for 7.30pm.

One of the good causes that will benefit is the foodbank at Kirkby Woodhouse. Tickets for the fundraiser are £6 including a pie and pea supper and are available from The Ark Bookshop, Station Street, Kirkby or by ringing 07831 691326. Those attending are invited to bring their own drinks and glasses.

Rotarian Neil Lancashire, organiser, reported that sponsorship of individual ferrets and complete races was going strongly, but there were still some gaps available for residents and businesses to fill.

The food bank was set up by volunteers at St John’s Church, Kirkby Woodhouse, in 2013 to offer essential foodstuffs to deprived families and to help them with advice on debt and benefits problems. Over the years the charity has given food to several thousand local residents.
