Amazon help for hospice

Posted onPosted on 5th Jul

The Amazon fulfilment centre in Sutton has made a £2,000 donation to a hospice that supports young patients and their families.

Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, North Anston, provides respite and short breaks, looks after siblings who may be suffering because of their family situation.

The hospice also provides music therapy, physiotherapy, end-of-life care, and bereavement support for families facing the loss of a child.

Victoria Wharmby, a finance manager at Amazon, Sutton, who nominated the charity for the donation, said: “The team at Bluebell Wood does incredible things for families in our community and beyond who face an impossibly difficult time in their lives. I’m pleased we’re supporting the hospice.”

Site leader Vivek Khanka added: “The team at Sutton is pleased to support the great work of Bluebell Wood. They are a lifeline to many families, and everyone at Amazon in Sutton supports the hospice’s staff and volunteers.”

Robert Langley, communications officer at Bluebell Wood, said: “Without support like this, it wouldn’t be possible for us to continue our work. Donations pay for day trips, fund sessions of sensory play, and much more. Thank you from all at Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.”
