The Amazon Breast Cancer Support Group saw its funds boosted by unexpected Christmas present donations of almost £820.
Long-term supporters of the charity, Sharon and John Cooper, held an evening garden party at their Skegby home with hot food, drinks, games, and a raffle all contributing to the £414 that was raised.
Two friends of the Amazons, which is based at King’s Mill Hospital, Sutton, spent Christmas at the Cambria Hotel, Paignton. After a raffle, singing, and a £50 donation from the hotel proprietors, they returned with £350 for the Amazons charity.
Other well-wishers made personal seasonal donations to support the charity’s work helping breast cancer patients at the hospital.
The Amazons also received another unexpected gift of £700 from the charitable trust of Vodafone, following Christine Batho’s fundraising garden party.
Beryl Perrin, chairperson of the Amazons, said: “What a wonderful surprize! The Amazon Breast Cancer Charity thanks all our kind friends and supporters.”
