Schools, community groups and residents are set to take part in a Week of Action in Mansfield Woodhouse.
The week, which is being run by Mansfield District Council from 13 to 17 June, aims to improve the local environment in Mansfield Woodhouse and will include a community litter pick from 1pm to 3pm on Thursday 16 June, starting at the Lords Ground to the rear of the Mansfield Woodhouse Ex-Serviceman’s Club in Slant Lane.
All equipment and protective gloves will be provided, so all you need do is sign up and turn out on the day. Pre-school age children are welcome, but must be accompanied by a parent or carer.
The week springs into action on Monday 13 June with a neighbourhood warden surgery in Morrison’s Square, when residents will have the opportunity to flag up concerns about the area with their local wardens.
They will also be able to learn about TV licensing and the laws and rules about watching downloads, live TV online and on-demand.
The week will also see litter patrols, dog fouling patrols, fly-tipping enforcement, advice and guidance handed out on environmental issues and targeted enforcement of unkempt areas.
Deputy Mayor and Portfolio Holder for Public Protection at Mansfield District Council, Cllr Mick Barton said: “The week of action is about bringing the community together to help make Mansfield Woodhouse a cleaner and safer place to live. We hope people will join forces with the council to help make a real improvement to their neighbourhood.”
Ward councillor, Amanda Fisher, added: “This week is about getting residents, both young and old, to come together and take responsibility for the area where they live. We want people to know that the council cares about what happens in this locality and that we are working hard to address any problems experienced by the community.”
