Academy to host Boxing Day festive party

Posted onPosted on 18th Dec

Queen Elizabeth’s Academy in Mansfield, part of the Diverse Academies Learning Partnership, is opening its doors on Boxing Day and inviting people to join it for a free festive brunch.

The invitation is particularly aimed at people on their own over Christmas as well as anyone in the area who wants to join in the party.

The doors to the main hall at the school on Chesterfield Road South will be open from 11am–3pm for people within the local community to join the academy for food, festive music, gifts and a party atmosphere alongside staff, students and governors of Queen Elizabeth’s.

Parents of some students are also giving up their time to support the event, but more volunteers are still needed to help serve food and hand out gifts.

Businesses wanting to help out with food, crackers and hats are also asked to get in touch.

If anyone can help the academy, they are urged to get in touch with principal Helena Brothwell at [email protected]

Helena said: “The academy’s role and position within the local community is very important to us, and we are always looking at ways in which we can give something back.

“We particularly want to extend this invitation to anyone who may be alone or not able to spend time with other family at this time of year.

“We see Queen Elizabeth’s and the community we serve as a family, and hope that we can help to put smiles on people’s faces as they spend time in our wonderful academy this Christmastime.

“The offer is open to anyone who may be grateful of support and friendship on Boxing Day or simply people who enjoy a great party atmosphere – we are looking forward to meeting everyone and celebrating together.

“We are still on the lookout for any local businesses who may be able to support us by donating food, crackers, hats or simply their time.

This is a great opportunity to do something positive this festive period and to support this fabulous community within Mansfield – I would be delighted to speak with anyone who can help!”
