The retiring president of the Inner Wheel Club of Ravenshead, Joy Richardson, has presented a cheque for £1,000 to Dr Peter Rose, chairman of the Cornwater Club, an older people’s charity that aims to prevent social isolation.

Joy nominated the club as one of her chosen charities during her year as president of the Inner Wheel of Ravenshead.

She was involved since the charity’s inception more than 13 years ago and has served on the board of directors.

Joy has maintained her connection with the club and cooks members’ meals when the staff cook is on holiday.

She raised the money by organising a number of fundraising events, including a concert by Dale Diva’s Choir and an afternoon tea.
