A More Confident Me – New project offers support

Posted onPosted on 17th Apr

A new initiative is getting under way to support residents in Mansfield, Sutton, and the Dukeries feel healthier, happier, confident and connected.

A More Confident Me, run by Academy Transformation Trust Further Education (ATTFE), encourages people aged 18 and over to improve their lives through a range of help.

Dianne Holmes, partnership and communities manager at ATTFE College, said: “We are excited to be launching this new initiative. We hope those who need it most can be supported to increase their confidence to access community activities and learning.

“It has been developed based on needs identified to us and we hope that local organisations will support us to make it a success.

“We know many people want to engage but need more support to do so, A More Confident Me will do just this, breaking down barriers faced by many in our local communities.”

Referrals to the programme can be made by professionals and community organisations. Self-referrals will also be accepted and groups who want to get involved are urged to get in touch.

Referrals can made from 27th April through a referral form at www.attfe.org.uk/moreconfidentme

ATTFE College, which has bases in Sutton, Mansfield, and Ollerton, said it was committed to supporting local communities to thrive, creating opportunities for people to feel healthier, happier, and more connected through engagement in community activities and learning.

A More Confident Me is aimed at supporting people who might feel lonely or isolated, or are lacking in confidence, or are experiencing or at risk of low mental health, or want to improve their wellbeing.

It can also help those who might want to find a new hobby or create friendship networks in the community or are looking for work but need support and confidence to get into employment

Once referred individuals will be supported by a friendly team to:
Set personalised goals to improve confidence and wellbeing.
Access new groups and activities.
Access to a fun and interactive 5 Ways to Wellbeing workshop.
Access to further support and training.
Support with employability skills if people are looking for employment.

People who are unable to access the internet to make a referral can call Alison (Sutton area) 07592 257956, Lee (Ollerton area) 07592 257526, or Charlotte (Mansfield area) 07835 208610.
