Mansfield sets up community safety hub

Posted onPosted on 6th Jan

Mansfield Civic Centre is to become home to a new community safety hub.

The hub will bring together teams from Nottinghamshire Police and Mansfield District Council’s community safety department and provide a joined-up approach to dealing with crime, disorder and safety issues.

“This is a really positive step for community policing and safety across Mansfield district,” said Chief Inspector Neil Williams, from Nottinghamshire Police.

“Having our teams together makes sense, it will improve communications and allow us to work more closely together.”

The move to a shared resource follows a national trend and there are other similar successful partnership hubs already in Nottinghamshire.

Cllr Mick Barton, Mansfield District Council Portfolio Holder for Public Protection, said: “Over time we hope that other related services will join us in the community safety hub and help us to deliver efficient and effective services for Mansfield.”

Community safety officers will continue to have a presence in Warsop, serving the needs of residents on the outskirts of the district.

The move will take place in the spring with an office being developed on the ground floor at the Civic Centre.
