More than 50 large black and white images and an audio visual presentation are part of an exhibition at Mansfield Museum that runs from 9th January until 27th February.
Thoresby: The End Of The Mine, which is free, has been put together by Southwell photographer Chris Upton.
He spent a year on the project to record Thoresby Colliery, the site, buildings and people in images, prior to its closure in July.
It was the last coal mine in the county.
A limited edition book, containing 138 pages and more than 200 evocative black and white images, is also available.
The book, priced £25, can be bought at www.chrisuptonphotography.com/section807424.html
Chris said: “The book provides an enduring record of Thoresby in its final days and would be appreciated by anyone associated with Thoresby or mining in Nottinghamshire.”.
