The Deputy Mayor joined veterans to launch the annual Poppy Appeal in Mansfield.
Poppy Appeal organiser Joe Martin, from the Mansfield branch of the Royal British Legion, presented the first poppy to Deputy Mayor Cllr Mick Barton at Mansfield Civic Centre.
Every poppy sold will help the Royal British Legion support bereaved families, wounded Service men and women, younger veterans seeking employment and housing, and older veterans needing age-related care.
Deputy Mayor Cllr Mick Barton said: “I am very proud to be supporting the Poppy Appeal. I always look forward to meeting the veterans and the people who do a great job in giving their free time to collect for this appeal. We must never forget the sacrifices of our Service men and women, who have given their tomorrows for our todays.
“The Poppy Appeal helps to provide valuable assistance to today’s Armed Forces community. Every £1 donated goes towards a wide range of services and support for our veterans, serving personnel and their families, so please support this very worthwhile cause.”
Poppies are available for a donation in the Civic Centre and at venues throughout the district.
