Thousands of thanks to TIS

Mansfield-based TIS, one of the UK’s leading fire, security and communications specialists, has raised £5,683 for the PASIC Children’s Ward (E39) at the Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham, which supports the families of children and young people with cancer.

The company selected the charity — the Parents Association for Seriously Ill Children — as recipients of its annual fundraising campaign last December and since then has staged many fundraising events, ranging from a swimathon and Trekfest, to a pyjama day and Easter egg raffle. The last event was a raffle draw.

The TIS charity team — Sharon Garton, Jessica Goldsmith and Amy Chambers — were invited to the ward to see the work the charity does.

They were met by PASIC chairman Simon Colbourn and family support worker Joanna Beaumont.

The ward is equipped with its own gadgets, including pool table, TV and music system, to help children relax in a homely environment when they receive their treatment.

Louise Whittle, operations and fundraising manager at PASIC, said: “It has been great having TIS working in partnership with us.

“We have been thrilled by the amount of money their staff have raised and touched by the level of commitment, energy and enthusiasm they have put into fundraising for us.”

Amy Chambers said: “It was an emotional and heart-breaking experience, but knowing that the money we have raised will make such a difference filled us with excitement and joy.”

TIS employs 140 staff at its headquarters at Oakham Business Park, Mansfield. The company prides itself on its commitment to the community and recently provided new kit sponsorship to football team Sherwood Colliery YFC under-12s.
