Playground boost for Asquith

ONE of the playgrounds at Mansfield’s Asquith Primary has seen huge changes thanks to a Sport England Lottery grant.
It secured a Primary Spaces/Sports England grant of £32,000 to develop a Multi-Use Games Area.

The facility has goals, volley ball posts and rubber soft surfacing that will help the school develop games and sports.
The grant was one of only 600 across the country and two in Mansfield.

Head Clare Harding said: “It has made being outside for PE so much more fun and, more importantly, safe.

“We use the area for after school clubs as well as PE. It also made a great addition to our summer fayre activities as a penalty shoot-out zone.

If schools in the area are interested in looking for grants then Corinna Brown, our extended services co-ordinator, is skilled in applying, particularly for Awards for All grants. We are interested in supporting other schools to access this funding.”
