School students across Mansfield and Ashfield took part in the third Junior Enterprise Summer Market Day in Mansfield on the hottest day of the year.

Students created their own business idea and then sold their products to the public on West Gate.

Business leaders from the area judged each team on a number of criteria, from the presentation of their stalls to the innovation of their products.

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at the John Fretwell Sporting Complex, Sookholme, next week.

Junior Enterprise is organised through the Mansfield Area Partnership, a collaboration of local schools and academies, with the support of local business network Mansfield 2020.

A student from Garibaldi College, Forest Town, said: “This is a great opportunity for students like me to get experience.
“I was nervous to begin with, but it has raised my confidence and I know more about selling and working as a team.”

Irvin Robinson, chairman of Mansfield 2020, one of the judges, said: “What a wonderful day for the students to come out and show their talent to everyone in Mansfield.

“I’m really impressed by what I’ve seen and I hope it makes the youngsters realise that anything is possible.”
