Nottinghamshire County Council’s County Youth Arts and Nottinghamshire Performing Arts team are launching the search for the next county’s supergroup.
It is the third year that County Youth Arts have launched a long-term music project to find top musil talent within the county. Supergroup auditions are taking place at the Royal Concert Hall in Nottingham on 29th June, 3pm-7pm,with the opportunity to collaborate with and learn from stars such as acclaimed Nottingham singer Nina Smith.
Supergroup is one of the highlights as part of Sonar Music Industry Week being organised by the youth arts team offering a range of music industry workshops and masterclasses during late June and early July.
The team also hosts Tolfest 2015 – with a range of live performances across dance, drama, music and film during the same time period – with the key message to encourage young talent to get involved.
Previous Supergroup winners Deeper than Forever and New Communication both enjoyed success, selling EPs, signing to record labels, performing alongside other bands and established musical talent, and performing at gigs.
Councillor Liz Plant, Committee Vice-Chairman for Children and Young People’s Services, at Nottinghamshire County Council, said: “We are extremely proud to once again be hosting our search for young creative talent in Nottinghamshire.
“County Youth Arts are behind a number of innovative projects within the creative industries working with professional artists to help young people realise their full potential.
“They have excellent industry links to professionals in London and other big cities and are able to provide top-class support and guidance to musicians, dancers, singers and others interested in getting into these careers. Young people in the county who are serious about a career in these creative industries are in great hands with our County Youth Arts team.”
County Youth Arts and Nottinghamshire Performing Arts are based from the Old Library in Leeming Street, Mansfield, which also has a theatre, recording studio, dance spaces and a media suite.
