Nominate a hero

Local people are being asked to submit their nominations for the Sherwood Forest Hospitals People’s Award to recognise an outstanding hospital employee who provides exceptional service above and beyond the call of duty.

The award, launched seven years ago, was designed to recognise the difference staff make to the lives of others, at King’s Mill, Mansfield Community or Newark Hospital, or in people’s own homes.

People can nominate any nurse, doctor, midwife, therapist, receptionist, porter or other member of staff who looked after them during an outpatient visit, a home visit, day case or longer hospital stay.

Trust chairman Sean Lyons said: “The People’s Awards are a great honour, made even more special because our patients and visitors nominate a member of staff, who has provided a service exceeding expectations, for recognition.

“Our staff are extraordinary people who staff work tirelessly to deliver the highest quality care. They carry out their work with dedication, often in hugely challenging circumstances.

This award is a chance for our patients to make sure their compassion, kindness and skill doesn’t go unnoticed.”

There are two ways to send in a nomination and tell why a particular employee or team is special:

Write to People’s Award, FREEPOST RLSJ-BGTL-XRUY, Membership Response Centre, King’s Mill Hospital, Mansfield Road, Sutton, Notts, NG17 4JL

All nominations must state the full name and department of the person being nominated and the hospital. They must also include the name, address and telephone number of the nominator. Nominators’ details will not be retained or passed on to any third parties.

The closing date for receipt of nominations is 19 June. The winner will be announced at the Trust’s Annual Staff Excellence Awards Ceremony later in the year.
