Samworth Church Academy dancers are through to the national finals of the Great Big Dance Off at the New Theatre Oxford on June 10th.

The Academy’s dancers, Destination Dance, performed at the East Midland regional finals of the competition at the Nottingham Albert Hall.

Students performed ‘Wildfire’, choreographed by Jamie Thomson of ‘Ampersandance’ professional dance company, who teaches dance students at the academy.

He said: “Destination Dance were outstanding in their performance at the regionals. Their passion and dedication to the work they do as a young dance company shined through in the competition, and their success there was testament to all their hard work so far.”

He said that the team is now training for the finals. “The group are sure to give the performance of a lifetime as they are up against some of the brightest and best young dancers in the UK,” he said.

Rebecca Denning, teacher, said: “The girls scored highly across all areas of the marking system and successfully made it through to our great delight.”
