Mansfield Palace Senior Youth Theatre is presenting an updated version of the play Port Manteau from local playwright, Andy Dobb, as it again gives local talent the chance to appear on stage.
Students are looking forward to the end-of-term school prom. It should be a happy time for all young people. However, Julia is unhappy. Facing the anniversary of her mum’s death, Julia in her lonely world splits in two – body and soul. While Julia tries to work things out, the body continues to live out life on Earth, while the soul faces the limbo land of Port Manteau.
This play takes on some deep and difficult themes, but uses some great theatrical techniques including comedy, song, and chorus to powerful effect as the plot unfolds. Will Ryan be able to help Julia on her journey of discovery? Will Julia’s Soul survive the antics of Port Manteau and STEEVE? Will Julia once again be at one with herself?
Performances are on Wednesday 12th and Thursday, 13th February, at 7pm. Tickets cost £9 (£6.50 for under-16s.) Go to mansfieldpalace.co.uk or call the box office on 01623 463133.
