DR Celestine John, president of the Rotary Club of West Ashfield, and members receive a cheque for £1,000 from a representative of the Derbyshire Hotel, South Normanton.
Each year, the club supports a Charity Ball organised by the hotel’s charity team, and in return receives a share of the proceeds, which is used to support local good causes.
This year children’s charity the Chernobyl Children’s Life Line and the Derbyshire Air Ambulance each received £500.
The donation to the air ambulance will help fund the essential emergency medical facility.
The donation to the children’s charity will pay for a teacher / translator to accompany children on annual visits to the area.
The Rotary club has actively supported the Chernobyl Children’s Life Line for many years. It works to improve and enrich the lives of children from Belarus affected by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster.
