Kirkby Inner Wheel Club has presented a cheque for £100 to Home-Start Ashfield after a talk by the organisation to members.
Liz Sheldon, senior organiser, and Colleen Smith from Home-Start Ashfield received a cheque from the club’s president, Anne Jackson.
She said: “We are pleased to be able to help support your valuable work in helping families and residents in this area.
“This year the president of the Association of Inner Wheel Clubs in Great Britain and Ireland has chosen Home-Start as her charity and has recently donated £8,000 to the Home-Start national charity.”
President Anne Jackson welcomed members and four guests to the group’s May meeting.
The evening became lively following the report of the Inner Wheel National Conference in Bournemouth and its entertaining and motivational speakers. Members showed off the pink jackets they made and the pink wigs they wore to the gala dinner evening.
Jean Moulson presented highlights of the International Inner Wheel Convention in Copenhagen.
International services officer Julie Hayes listed the charities she will be sending donations to, including an Aquabox for Nepal.
Transport was confirmed for the visit to the Japanese Gardens, near Newark, and for several members going to the Ashfield Harmony concert.
Numbers were taken for the President’s Dinner at Bella Mia, Hucknall; for a variety of invitations from local clubs; and for the end of year Rotary and Inner Wheel Thanksgiving Service at Greasley Parish Church in June.
