Popular local vocalist Danielle entertained crowds throughout the evening ahead of Ashfield District Council vice-chairman Coun Paul Grafton encouraging the big countdown before the firework finale.

The event followed on from a  successful summer of events organised by the council.  This included more than 20,000 residents coming together on Sutton Lawn for the return of the three-day Ashfield Show.

Councl leader Coun Jason Zadrozny said: “We had an absolutely fantastic evening at Sparks in the Park, welcoming thousands of visitors. We listened to residents calling for the return of the annual Ashfield fireworks event and we couldn’t be prouder to have brought this brilliant free event back.

“We are really proud that the Council, in partnership with Out of the Box Events, is able to provide fantastic free events like this for our communities, we know how they are for families and we look forward to welcoming residents to our next free events in the calendar over the Christmas period.”

Next on the calendar of events will be three Christmas light switch-on events in Sutton on 21st November, Kirkby on 28th November, and Hucknall on 4th December.
