Mansfield mayor Andy Abrahams (above) started the first race at the English National Cross Country Relays at Berry Hill Park in the town.
More than 1,000 teams took part with over 3,500 athletes competing in the event, which was hosted by Mansfield Harriers, Mansfield District Council, and the English Cross Country Association.
It was the 35th year that the relays had been held in Mansfield with Berry Hill Park affectionally known as the home of the relays.
First started in 1988 at Crystal Palace, the event then moved to Mansfield, establishing itself as a major event in the athletics calendar.
