Local people are being invited to King’s Mill Hospital to discover how medical research can transform lives, and how they can get involved.
As part of International Clinical Trials Week (18-22 May) research nurses will be running a stall in the main entrance of the hospital to talk to patients and visitors about what research involves, and about successful research trials the Trust has already undertaken.
They will also provide expert advice to people wishing to undertake research activities, and information on resources available to researchers to assist them to conduct clinical trials within their specialist areas.
Dominic Nash, Research Team Leader at the Trust, said: “Over the last year we have successfully recruited over 800 people to research trials in many clinical areas across the Trust.
“Clinical research improves health outcomes and getting involved not only has the potential to benefit the people that take part, but also gives the opportunity to have a positive impact on the care and treatment of other people in the future.
“I would encourage everyone to come along and find out more, whether they have a particular interest in research or not.”
