Support for star triple jumper

Posted onPosted on 12th Oct

Mansfield Woodhouse’s Brandon Lee has received a second grant from the Armchair Club.

The first was in January 2023 and since then the triple jumper has gone on to represent Great Britain at junior level in an international competition.

He is now ranked number one in the under-20 triple jump in the UK, and is also the Midland indoor champion in his age group.

Brandon won the national indoor championships in February, while outdoors he was English Schools and national champion.

Travelling to London weekly to train with a top UK coach, Brandon said his Armchair Club grant will help towards transport costs, as well as training equipment, and entry fees and accommodation costs for events.

The Armchair Club was created in 1982 by a small group of businessmen to raise funds to support aspiring athletes across Mansfield and Ashfield.

He is pictured, right, receiving a cheque for £500 from Armchair Club members Geoff Waller and Stewart Rickersey at the Berry Hill home of Mansfield Harriers, where Brandon is a member.
