Do It for Framework day

A charity working with homeless people in Mansfield is urging members of the public to come together on a single day of fundraising fun next month to help change and save lives.

Framework, which helps more than 11,000 homeless and vulnerable people a year across the East Midlands, will hold its fourth annual “Do it for Framework Day” on Friday, May 22nd. Local groups, schools, businesses and individuals will be encouraged to do a special something for Framework on a single day of community-based action.

From sponsored walks to cake bakes; from offices to classrooms, people across the region are needed to take part in a range of unusual activities in aid of a very serious cause.

Homelessness remains a visible issue across Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire and the current demand for Framework’s services proves this. Every single penny raised from Do it for Framework Day will be used to supplement vital work in the community – to prevent people from losing their homes, to help people who are homeless, and to provide opportunities for vulnerable people to change their lives.

Do it for Framework day organiser Sarah Cross explained: “We are working hard to raise our profile in the communities that we serve so that more people know who we are and how we can help. This event will give us the perfect chance to do that”.

“We urge all supporters, community groups, educational bodies and businesses across the county to get involved and do something fun, and even silly to help local vulnerable people. If you’ve ever thought about doing something to help homeless people in your community, this is the perfect time to Do It! It doesn’t really matter what you do…just as long as you Do It for Framework.”

For a second year running the event is sponsored by the Nottingham Building Society who will be dressing in orange in all branches for the day. Sue Owen Bailey, Senior Community Assistant said: “We’re delighted to be supporting Framework’s Do it for Framework day for a second year. Our Doing Good Together initiative is very much about joining forces to do something positive for your community so we’re incredibly proud to be to getting behind Framework on the 22nd May.”

Framework has suggested a list of top “Do It” suggestions on its website: www.frameworkha.org/DIFF2015 These include hosting a garden party or coffee morning at home, holding a sponsored dance-athon at school, or holding an office Olympics.

There will be acts of fundraising across the East Midlands, Framework’s new partners the Waterside Shopping Centre and New Look store in central Lincoln will be Doing-It. Sainsbury’s Tritton Road will be promoting all things orange in the supermarket. The 12th West Bridgford Brownies will get sponsored to build and sleep in their own cardboard shelters.

All ideas are welcomed and encouraged By Framework. To learn more or get involved contact [email protected] or call Sarah on 07964 974 304.
