Rotarians help disaster fund

Kirkby Rotarians raised £1,237 for the victims of the Nepal earthquake at collections at the Aldi and Boyes stores in the town, organised by Rotarian Margaret Minto-Smith, and at a curry night at Coxmoor Golf Club.

President Roger Pursey described the response from residents and the club as “superb.”

Magician Steve Short baffled diners at the curry night with tricks at the tables.

Part of the money raised is being sent to the local Rotary District Nepal Disaster fund, which has direct links with Rotary in Nepal.

Kirkby Rotary will also buy Aquabox water filtration units for the fund.

During the curry night, Kirkby firm Lamtec Ltd pledged £590 to buy an emergency box for the disaster fund.
