Masque madness and a house of fun in hit musical!

Posted onPosted on 8th Aug

Mansfield amateur dramatics company Masque is continuing to challenge its members — and audiences — with the latest brave choice of production.

Following on from shows such as The Producers and the recent popular fundraising Calendar Girls at Mansfield Palace Theatre, Masque is set to stage Our House.

Featuring the music of 80s hit band Madness, the company said Our House promises to be just that — complete madness!

A spokesperson said: “With lightning speed costume changes, a huge cast, and set to co-ordinate, as well as a live band, the show will be a spectacle to watch.”

A West End smash hit musical and penned by the writer of Calendar Girls, Our House starts when, on the night of his 16th birthday, Joe Casey commits a petty crime in a bid to impress the girl of his dreams. As the police turn up, Joe faces a life-changing decision: Does he stay and surrender like an honest man, or run and make the escape of a criminal? In a ‘sliding doors’ moment, Joe’s world splits in two as the story follows the different paths that one moment leads to.

Among the Madness songs featured in the show are Baggy Trousers, House of Fun, It Must Be Love, Embarrassment, My Girl, and more.
Masque has been staging famous shows and musicals at the Palace Theatre for more than 50 years, supporting charities at the same time.

Our House is at the Palace Theatre from Tuesday 5th to Saturday, 9th November, at 7.30pm, with a matinee on the Saturday at 2.30pm.
