A Mansfield Church announced a new collective name for St John’s with St Mary’s — Christ the Light — at a family fun day.

The Rev Chris Lee opened the event and thanked everyone for attending on a warm day, sandwiched between wet and windy weather.

He said the message of the new name, Christ the Light, was about it being a beacon of light in Mansfield.

The free fun day, which included bouncy castles, crafts, games, music, barbecue, and more, attracted around 400 people to the grounds and church of St John’s.

Areas were set aside for quiet time in the church, with room also to enjoy a cream team.

The event was organised and hosted by members of Christ the Light, led by Ruth Greenfield, children and families worker, along with her husband, Andrew Greenfield.
