KIRKBY Rotary Club president Roger Pursey has inducted Jackie Hopgood into full membership, the first associate member to make the transition.
She was formally introduced to the meeting at Coxmoor Golf Club by vice-president Philip Hurt.
Longest-serving member Gordon Sugg and president-elect Paul Riley read the Objects of Rotary.
Rotn Pursey said: “Jackie shows remarkable courage and character.
“Her work in the club has demonstrated the attitude and initiative that qualify her as an ideal Rotarian.”
Rotn Hopgood said: “It’s a privilege to become a full member. I want to thank everyone who has made me so welcome over the past year.”
The club adopted the associate membership system to enable women and men to become Rotarians without undertaking the time and cost commitments of full membership, but with the aim of doing so in the future.
