Aiming to improve health of estate’s residents

Posted onPosted on 30th Aug

A dedicated health and wellbeing officer has been appointed to help people living on the Bellamy Road estate in Mansfield.

Kirsty Armstrong-Booth (right) will focus on developing relationships with residents and partners to help better understand how to tailor services to meet community needs — reducing health inequalities in the area.

The charity Mansfield CVS and ABL Health have been working in the estate as part of NHS England and NHS Improvement funding (NHSEI).

Other partners in the project include Mansfield District Council, Mansfield Place Based Partnership, and Active Notts, and together they have used the Your Health Your Way Community Fund to support the new role.

Dom Duggan, head of Strategic Partnerships for ABL Health, said: “It feels like a landmark moment for the Your Health Your Way service, taking a collaborative and innovative approach to tackling health inequalities by bringing key partners together in an area where need is high.

“By pooling collective resources and knowledge, plus local insight from Bellamy residents, we have created a bespoke role that has all the ingredients for success.”

Vanessa Whitton, chief executive of Mansfield CVS, added: “I believe that local residents will truly benefit from having Kirsty as a dedicated person who can help to reduce health inequalities in the area.

“This type of collaborative working between industry experts is essential for the community to be able to thrive.”
