Celebrating Creativity in Mansfield is the theme of free Heritage Open Days at the Old Meeting House Unitarian Chapel (OMH), Mansfield — the oldest non-conformist place of worship in Nottinghamshire.

There are various events on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th, September, from 10am to 4pm.

On the Saturday at 10.30am, photographer and podcaster Neil Pledger will open the event and share his images and insights in a talk titled Footprints Of Mansfield Past And Present. The Rev Derek Smith will then give a talk on the Rev Ottwell Binns, a former minister of the OMH and prolific writer of adventure and detective stories.

In the schoolrooms across both days there will be displays on Mansfield’s well-known and forgotten creators as well as the exhibition Mansfield Revived, a Mansfield Heritage Townscape Project, on loan from Mansfield Museum. There will also be refreshments, games, activities for children, and workshops for all ages. The Heritage Trail booklet of the OMH will be available in printed and electronic format.

On the Sunday the chapel and schoolrooms will be open to visit from 10am and the weekend will close with a Songs of Praise service at 2.30pm.
