Wellbeing, Christian spirituality and more at The Sanctuary

If the demands and worries of modern life are weighing you down, then from September you may find some solace at The Sanctuary — a new centre based at Trinity Methodist Church, Mansfield Woodhouse.

The Rev Debbie Keegan said its care on offer would be for the betterment of wellbeing and spiritual life.

“The idea for the Christian Spirituality and Wellbeing Centre, which we are calling The Sanctuary is to offer something to people who are aware of their own sense of spirituality but would not associate that within a traditional church setting,” she added.

Together with mainstream wellbeing practices, The Sanctuary aims to offer a space that seeks the wellbeing of the whole person, mind, body, and spirit.

Work on the the project began earlier this year and the church is currently in several grant processes for funding to refurbish a hall at the back of its building on High Street.

“It’s important that we have a space that is comfortable and welcoming, so that people feel they can just drop in for a cuppa and a chat, as well as a space for more organised events,” said Debbie.

A timetable of sessions and activities, which includes time with one of two qualified spiritual accompanists, will be available when The Sanctuary is launched on Friday, 1st September.

The Santuary will be open every Friday, from 9am–3.30pm.
