Play area opens at leisure centre

Posted onPosted on 28th Apr

Work has been competed on a new children’s play area at Ravenshead Leisure Centre.

FCC Communities Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation that gives grants for community projects through the Landfill Communities Fund, awarded £34,983.64 for the project.

The new multi-play unit on Longdale Lane, which has replaced an existing one, features two new slides, a climbing wall, balancing walkways, and banister slide.

The unit complements existing equipment for under-12s and also has colourful panels at a lower level for toddlers.

Coun Carol Wright, portfolio holder for playgrounds, said: “Ravenshead Parish Council is delighted with this addition to our play park.

“The unit will extend imaginative play and hone mobility skills, while providing lots of fun for all ages, just in time for the summer.

“We are grateful for the funding provided by the FCC Communities Foundation and to the manufacturers, Proludic, and their contractors, Horizon, for an excellent installation job. We look forward to seeing our young residents enjoying hours of enjoyment.”

Penny Horne, spokesperson for FCC Communities Foundation, said: “We’re delighted to be supporting the Ravenshead Leisure Centre project and pleased our funding will provide such a fantastic facility for children and young families across Ravenshead and surrounding villages.

“FCC Communities Foundation is always happy to consider grant applications for projects that make a difference to local communities.”
