Breast cancer charity’s support meetings return

Posted onPosted on 20th Apr

The Amazon Breast Cancer Support Group has resumed its monthly open support meetings for past and present breast cancer patients at King’s Mill Hospital, Sutton.

They were previously held on the second Tuesday of the month (apart from in August) in the Amazon Lounge at the breast unit at the hospital, from 7.30pm to 9pm.

Times for future open meetings may be different, but will be posted on the Amazon Breast Cancer Support Group Facebook page and its website.

Chairperson of the support group charity Beryl Perrin said they were delighted that the meetings were being held again after the pandemic forced them to be put on hold.

“We shared catch-up stories, met and chatted with new friends, started to plan future projects and experienced the joy of being together again,” she added. “We shared tea, coffee, and biscuits — and lots of conversations with the help of breast care nurse Yvonne.”

The Amazon Breast Cancer Support Group works for the benefit of breast cancer patients at the hospital.

The long-running charity is backed by fundraising and events throughout the year with 100% of money raised going to the cause — and over the past 25 years the Amazons have donated £239,606 to King’s Mill Hospital.
