A dog rescue centre has relaunched its much loved challenge, 60 Miles in May, to raise vital funds for rescue dogs in its care.
All fundraisers have to do is complete 60 miles across the month in any way they choose — running, walking, skipping, swimming, cycling, or perhaps something more inventive.
Jerry Green Dog Rescue, which operates dog rescue and community support services across Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, and Yorkshire, has a base at Blidworth.
Alex Drewett, fundraising manager, said: “Jerry Green Dog Rescue cares for hundreds of dogs in need every year, with the demand on our services increasing exponentially due to the pandemic and now the cost-of-living crisis.
“We are seeing more dogs, in more desperate need than we have for many years.
“We receive no government or lottery funding and so rely entirely on the generosity of our wonderful supporters to continue our vital work.
“60 Miles in May offers a simple, accessible and fun opportunity for our communities to come together, get some sunshine, raise some precious pennies, and earn some great prizes.”
Registration for the challenge is free, and each participant will receive a free T-shirt, plus a certificate and medal on completion.
There are also prizes for reaching key fundraising milestones — a ‘do it for the dogs’ neck buff for those raising £100 and a 60 Miles in May hoodie for reaching £300.
The charity thanked Vitalin Pet Foods and Attis Insurance Brokers for sponsoring 60 Miles in May.
