Green library project grows

Posted onPosted on 18th Apr

Schoolchildren from Bilsthorpe Flying High Academy will have the opportunity to work with an artist to create a permanent artwork in their village library garden on 21st April.

It is thanks to the growth of a Green Libraries project by Inspire Culture, learning and libraries, which is supported by funding from Newark and Sherwood District Council.

Inspire’s Sustainability & Environment Group has been developing Project LOGGS (Libraries Outdoor Green Garden Spaces), a project dedicated to developing environmental understanding and activities in libraries.

Inspire, which delivers culture, learning and libraries on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council, created a library gardens with outdoor classroom facilities for the development of a high-impact environmental programme of activities in Bilsthorpe.

The new district council funding will give youngsters the opportunity to work with local artist Clare Taylor, from Bus and Bird Arts.

She will help them create clay tiles, which will be later fired and made into a permanent artwork for the library’s garden space.
