Festive garden lights up help for babies

Posted onPosted on 9th Dec

Caring fundraiser Cory Marsh has decorated his garden with Christmas lights for a third successive year to raise money for a charity that supports babies.

Cory and his fiancee, Deborah James, of Big Barn Lane, Mansfield, wanted to put a smile on people’s faces as they walk by their home — and collect money for the Emily Harris Foundation.

The charity supports the work of King’s Mill Hospital’s Neonatal Unit.

Corey said: “Our Christmas garden raised more than £500 in the previous two years.

“We have extended it this year and made it look different, adding 1,560 multi-coloured LED net lights on the outside of our hedge so that anyone driving or walking along Big Barn Lane can see the display.

“Our garden is small, but we have done our best to make it look nice and exciting.

“We also have two projectors showing moving snowflakes and snowmen as well as the words Let It Snow on the front of the house.”

Last year Cory was featured in the News Journal for his fundraising.

As well as now raising around £3,000 for the Emily Harris Foundation, he has previously helped Mencap; Sheffield Children’s Hospital; Yorkshire Air Ambulance; St Patrick’s Church, Forest Town; and a scanner appeal at King’s Mill.

When the King’s Mill appeal was successfully completed he began helping the foundation.

Cory also shows his support for the NHS on its annual birthday celebrations.
