Pregnant women being cared for at King’s Mill Hospital are now benefitting from improved surroundings following a generous cash donation from a local wedding planner.
Kelly Wilson, who runs Touch of Charm in Mansfield, has donated £1000 to support the refurbishment of a quiet room facility in the antenatal suite at the hospital. The funds, which Kelly raised by organising a charity night, have been used to buy comfortable leather furniture and soft furnishings.
Claire Allison, Antenatal Suite Co-ordinator at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said: “Expectant mums often need somewhere quiet, away from the hustle and bustle of the busy ward, to talk with us about how their pregnancy is progressing, or to discuss any concerns they have.
“The quiet room enables staff to provide their dedicated assistance and support in private and comfortable surroundings. Kelly’s hard work and generous donation has made a huge difference to the women we care for.”
Kelly Wilson said: “I am aware of the great work the team in the antenatal suite do and once I found out about their need for a quiet room I was really keen to raise funds for such a worthy cause. It’s good to know the money raised has been used to create a room which will benefit so many women and their families.”
Kelly will officially open the quiet room on Friday 6 March.
