More than 700 job seekers and students attended this year’s annual Ashfield Careers and Jobs Fair at the new Kirkby Leisure Centre.

Held in association with the Adult Skills Partnership, it gave people interested in talking to potential employers and those interested in training courses the opportunity to talk to representatives from more than 90 different organisations.

Representatives attending included Hovis, ITP Aero (UK) Ltd, Maurice Hill Transport Ltd and Renault Trucks. The event also saw great support from local businesses such as Matthews and Tannert Ltd, J. Tomlinson, West Nottinghamshire College, Inspire Learning and the Prince’s Trust, offering support for those wanting to gain new skills and start a new career journey.

The chief executive of Ashfield District Council, Theresa Hodgkinson, said: “Wow, what a great day for jobseekers and prospective students. There really was something for everyone and this year marked the most businesses we have ever had at the event and long may it continue to grow. We would like to thank everyone who supported the event and we hope visitors found the outcome they hoped for.”

Director of Place and Communities Robert Docherty added: “Our Careers and Jobs Fair was a fantastic opportunity to meet potential employers and find out about training opportunities. It’s part of Ashfield Council’s strategic goal to provide opportunities for improving skills and employment opportunities in the area.
