An award-winning play telling the true story of a Mansfield world record holder is coming to Mansfield Old Library this November

The Foundry Group presents UNDERDOGS, a new play by Mansfield-born writers Brian Mitchell (The Ministry of Biscuits) and Joseph Nixon (co-writer of West End sell-out-smash The Shark is Broken), which is at the Old Library on 10th November, at 7.30pm.

This performance is part of The Old Library’s Affordable Theatre Programme, where tickets are free to book and then customers pay what they can on the night once the performance has finished.

UNDERDOGS tells the true story of Mansfield man Geoff Smith, known as ‘The Human Mole’, who broke the world record for the longest time buried alive by spending five months in a coffin under the beer garden of the Railway Inn, Mansfield, from August 1998 – January 1999.

Sadly, since the show premiered in May, Geoff Smith has passed away. This performance goes ahead with his family’s blessing to commemorate his achievement.

UNDERDOGS features an award-winning cast including Murray Simon (The Ministry of Biscuits, Lord God) and Emma Wingrove (Sweethearts & The Hooligan ). The play was also the winner of OffWestEnd.com’s OffFEST Award for Theatre at the Brighton Fringe 2022.
