New writing club comes to Mansfield

Posted onPosted on 1st Sep

Do you love books and think you could write one yourself?  If so, then why not go along to a new writing club that is launching in Mansfield on 13th September.

The Writing Club has been set up by local author, celebrant and radio presenter Katie Trinder.

Katie released her debut novel, Stanley Thomas is a Very Bad Man, in June and afterwards found herself inundated with people asking for advice.

“After ‘Stan’ came out I started getting a lot of messages from people asking me how I got started, what inspired me and what advice I had,” she said.

“I explained some of what I did, but I’m not sure if that’s how every author goes about it, so I thought it would be a good idea to set up a writing club, where people can share ideas, pick each other’s brains and have some fun.

“I’ve also lined up some guest speakers who will come along and share their knowledge too.”

The Writing Club will look into different aspects of writing a book, from creating characters, plot lines, and language, to different styles and genres. You don’t have to have any previous experience, just a love of books and reading.

The sessions are open to all adults and take place on the second Tuesday of the month at Ladybrook Community Centre, Mansfield. The first one is on 13th September, then 11th October, 8th November and 13th December. They start at 7pm and finish at 8.30pm, and cost £5 per session.

Katie’s novel, Stanley Thomas is a Very Bad Man, is available from Amazon in paperback and kindle form.
