Discover Ashfield photography competition winners

Posted onPosted on 7th Sep

More than 100 people took advantage of the summer sun to capture creative images of Ashfield in a photography competition.

The Discover Ashfield photography competition focussed on different people and places across the district in three categories — People of Ashfield, Places, and under-16s.

Judges praised the overall entry rate and said it was difficult to select the winners:

People — Rachel Collins with ‘Our Son Enjoying Brierley Park’ (top).

Places — Adrian Seaman with ‘Hucknall Ranges Dogwalker In Winter’.

Under-16s — Mia Ludlam with ‘Flowers’.

Each winner received a £100 shopping voucher and an invitation to the Discover Ashfield Awards to collect their prize.

Ashfield District Council and Discover Ashfield thanked everyone who entered the competition, which was the most successful yet.

Louise Knott, vice-chair of the Discover Ashfield Board, said: “The job of the judging panel was not made easy at all this year by some brilliant entries that really captured the best that Ashfield has to offer, both in terms of places to visit and the wonderful people that make up our community.

“There is much to be proud of in Ashfield and entrants really showcased the best the district has to offer.

“Congratulations to our winners and runners-up.”

The leader of the council, Coun Jason Zadrozny, said: “It is great to see all these images captured from around Ashfield and the ways everyone interpreted the different categories. Record numbers entered this year’s competition, a real testament to the community involvement we have in Ashfield.”
