Hitting top gear for Rotary fundraising

Taylors Transport and Kirkby Rotary teamed up to raise almost £2,000 for good causes.

The Huthwaite company’s annual drive-a-truck event at Convoy In The Park proved another success.

It was part of the British Truck Racing Championship at Donington Park, the yearly event that celebrates anything to do with trucks and trucking.

Around 200 people took the chance to drive a truck, raising nearly £2,000 for the Rotary club through donations.

Taylor’s Transport Driver Training School instructors provided various trucks for the public to experience, including an articulated lorry and trailer, and ridged lorry, on a course in the race circuit grounds.

They gave instruction on how to drive the lorries.

Alan Taylor, managing director of Taylors Transport, said “It’s always a pleasure to work alongside Rotary and any community-based organisation or initiative.

“Convoy In The Park is an annual event that supports various activities, including truck racing. It is perhaps the biggest trucking event in the UK.”

Kirkby Rotary fundraiser Neil Lancashire added: “Once again we would like to thank Alan Taylor and Taylors Transport for donating the trucks and time given by his friendly instructors. We thoroughly enjoy this annual event.”

Mark Willetts, one of the driver training instructors, said: “It was great to see so many people come along to see us and take part in driving a truck for a good cause.

“A big thank you to you all and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.”
